You will need to verify your tax rules by going to the menu: Configurations > Configurations > Currencies/Taxes.
This step is particularly important if you have activities in other provinces or countries beside your own, and/or if you have specific activities that require special configurations. If you did not enter your tax numbers when you created your GEM-WORK account, you will need to do so in this section.
Tax Configuration
The first time you use GEM-WORK, the system will help you configure your taxes according to your province. It is no longer necessary to modify tax configurations after this step. When you generate a quote from a sale, you should see your tax numbers next to the total at the bottom. However, if you have made a mistake and want to change your settings, here is the procedure.
Click on the following Configurations > Configurations > Currencies/Taxes tab.
Click on Canadian Taxes in the tax rules.
Once in this window opens, select each tax by clicking on it in the list. E.g., “GST.”
In this other tab, enter your Government ID and click Save and Close.
Once these settings are complete, you can also adjust the taxes according to your different product categories. If you want to sell a product without taxes, here's how you can do it.
Note: If your sales volume exceeds the exemptions per province, don't forget to register and add your tax number. E.g.: British Columbia taxes.
