To configure your commissions, you must first choose which method you want to use. There are two methods: configuration by client or configuration by human resources.
Here's how both methods work:
1. Configuration by Human Resources
This method is particularly useful when your employees log in directly to the platform and create their own sales. This is also the right method to choose if your commission rate does not change per customer, but rather a fixed rate per employee. Click on Human Resources > Human Resources and select a folder.
Click on the Seller tab. In this tab, you can configure or modify the commissions for the relevant human resource and click on +New next to Commissions.
In the next window, enter the following information:
- Commission type;
- Amount/Percentage;
- Calculate on;
- Limit to this product or service category.
Check or uncheck the “Automatically add to a sale if this human resource creates the sale” option, depending on your needs.
Click Save.
2. Configuration by Clients
If you want to specify different rates for different customers, or assign multiple salespeople to the same customer, it is best to use this method. Click Clients > Clients and select the client file.
In the client file, you will find the Sellers tab. In this tab, you can configure or modify commissions for the client in question (more information on configuration below).
Regardless of the method (clients or human resources), the configuration process is the same. To add a commission, go to the list specified in the method you have chosen and click on +New. The following window will appear.
Seller
- If you have chosen method 1 (Human Resources), this field will not be present because we are already in the human resources file.
- In method 2, you must specify for which employee you want to add a commission for this client.
Commission type (fixed or percentage)
- A fixed commission is a fixed amount that will be charged as commission, regardless of the value of the sale.
- A percentage commission is an amount that will be calculated based on the value of the sale.
Amount/Percentage
- Enter the amount or percentage based on your previous choice.
Currency
- Choose the currency for the commission.
Calculate on Gross Sales or Profit
If you have chosen a percentage commission, you can base the percentage calculation on the total sales or the profit from those sales.
If we take the example of a 50% commission on a sale of $150 and a profit of $100, here are the results for both options.
- Gross sales: 50% of total sales ($150), so the commission is $75.
- Profit: 50% of the profit from the sale ($100), so the commission is $50.
Eligible Product or Service Category
- If you want the commission to be specific to a product or service category, you can enter it in this box.
You can create multiple commission configurations for the same human resource, in case commissions vary depending on the product category.
View and Pay Commissions
To view commissions in the system, go to the Sales > Commissions menu.
You can then choose the sales date, a specific salesperson (optional), a product and service category (optional), and a currency (optional). In addition, you can choose the type of report. Here is an explanation of each option:
Payable Because Payment Has Been Received
This will only show sales commissions where the customer has made full payment and the commission has not yet been marked as paid.
Not Payable Because Payment Has not Been Received
This will only show sales commissions where the customer has not made full payment and the commission has not yet been marked as paid.
Paid
This will only show commissions that have been marked as paid.
You will then be able to see the commissions, sales totals with percentages, categories, and other information about the commissions. If you have selected the Payable because payment has been received option, you will also see a Confirm button at the bottom of the window. You can then select the commissions you wish to pay and click on this button. You will be asked whether the payment accounting transactions should be added to the system.
Then click Send.
