Warning: It may be wise to contact your accountant before modifying a closed period. For example, if you have already submitted your GST and QST reports to the government, modifying a period could distort your data.
When a period is closed, it is not possible to modify the data for that period. However, you can reopen the period to make changes by clicking on the small trash can icon in the list of closed periods.
If you reopen a period that is not the most recent one, all the periods that follow it will also be reopened.
For example: if I reopen the period for October 2020, but I have already closed the period for November 2020, the November period will also be reopened.
Click on Accounting > Periods and click on the trash can icon (see image below) to reopen the period. The closed period number 2310 will then disappear from the list of closed periods.
Another window will open with the following message: “Reopen this period (#2310) and all further ones"? Click Yes.
Once you have finished making changes to this period, you will need to close it again by following the standard period closing steps.
